Toyota wants to build an assembly plant for its Lexus premium brand in Europe, a source close to the matter confirmed last week.

The reason: The Japanese carmaker aims to sell 100,000 Lexus units in Europe by 2015, the insider told Automotive News Europe.

ANE's sister publication Automobilwoche broke the story about the plant May 8. Automobilwoche's separate, high-placed sources said Toyota is considering building the plant in Germany or France and added that the plant also would build Toyotas.
