Beijing buys Fiat's CNG engines

TURIN - Fiat Powertrain Technologies will supply engines powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) to Beijing's mass-transit authority.

The order for 1,000 units is the Fiat group subsidiary's largest contract for CNG engines to date.

The CNG engines will be made in Turin and will power buses in the Chinese capital.

Fiat Powertrain previously won a contract to supply Beijing Public Transport Company with 320 CNG engines in the 2002 to 2004 period.
