Robert Bosch's big effort to strengthen its portfolio of hybrid components is paying dividends. The world's largest supplier has contracts for its stop-start technology and is ready to start supplying parts for gasoline-electric powertrains.

But the focus on hybrids won't stop Bosch's efforts to further improve diesel and gasoline engines.

Bosch's involvement in multiple technologies helped to boost its 2005 automotive sales 5.4 percent to [euro]26.3 billion.
