Audi's TT gets lightweight body

The new Audi TT features a hybrid architecture of aluminum and steel.

To assure a balanced weight distribution, the premium roadster and convertible's body is 69 percent aluminum and 31 percent steel.

Most of the steel is used in the rear of the car to assure a balanced weight distribution.

The first-generation TT was made of steel. Audi uses a similar mix of metals in its flagship A8.

Audi is taking orders for the new TT. Deliveries start in September.
