PSA/Peugeot-Citroen's decision to build its upper-medium and large cars in China marks the acceleration of its global platform policy.

So far, the French automotive group only has used its platforms for small and medium-sized cars in developing countries such as eastern Europe and China .

Platforms allow the sharing of key components such as chassis and powertrains between several vehicles, thus cutting costs for engineering and manufacturing.
