Two top German automaker jobs will be open next year. Volkswagen group Chairman Ferdinand Piech and Mercedes-Benz CEO Jurgen Hubbert are due to retire in 2002. Possible candidates to replace Piech include VW quality chief and former BMW Chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder and Premier Automotive Group head Wolfgang Reitzle. Audi boss Franz-Josef Paefgen is a candidate for the VW and Mercedes jobs.
