A series of corruption cases involving bribes allegedly paid by suppliers to automakers raises many questions. Is the auto industry more corrupt than other industries? Did high-ranking executives tolerate illegal practices or were they unaware of them? And what about the companies' internal codes of conduct?

Most companies have an ethics policy. Many have had one for years. And most of these policies have recently been rewritten, fine-tuned or expanded.
