Porsche is transferring more parts shipments from road to rail.

The German sports car maker now ships engines made in Zuffenhausen, about 8km north of Stuttgart, to contract coachbuilder Valmet's plant in Uusikaupunki, southern Finland by rail.

Valmet makes the Boxster and Cayman for Porsche.

Previously, the engines were loaded onto large truck trailers in the German city of Kornwestheim, which is about 4km north of Zuffenhausen.
