It has been a full year since Dieter Zetsche took over as head of the Mercedes Car Group and nine months since he was named head of Mercedes' parent company, DaimlerChrysler.
There has never been a more influential Mercedes brand chief in the history of the company.
And Zetsche is extending his power even further.
