Senior executives at General Motors and Ford Motor have discussed the possibility of a merger, according to sources familiar with the talks.
The talks began shortly after Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn broached the possibility of an alliance between Renault-Nissan and GM. According to one source, GM CEO Rick Wagoner initiated the contact.
"GM has been talking about Ford since this Nissan thing came up," said another knowledgeable source.
