Turkey's auto market suffers sales slide

After several years of strong growth, Turkey's new-vehicle sales are headed for a sharp decline in 2006, industry experts say.

"This year we expect sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles to decrease 10 percent to 15 percent from 710,000 units in 2005 to 600,000-640,000 units," said Ercan Tezer, general secretary of the Turkish automotive manufacturers association.
