BMW is preparing its US plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to build as many as 40,000 units a year of its new X6, says a source at a BMW supplier.
The four-door, all-wheel-drive X6 launches next year. It is based onthe X5 premium SUV, which is built in Spartanburg.
BMW has indicated that it intends to build an SUV/coupe crossover at the plant but has not revealed a timetable or its production plans.
