BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer put it quite succinctly in a year-end 2006 interview with the Suddeutsche Zeitung. He believes the global auto industry will grow 20 percent in the next 10 years. But the market for premium brands - such as BMW - will grow twice as fast as volume brands, he told the German daily newspaper.
As 2007 gets underway, it is likely that Europe - and the global auto industry - will see further proof that Reithofer is right.
