Fiat expands Tychy to 530,000; Adding room for Fiat 500 and Ford Ka replacement will make Polish plant biggest in the East.

To build cars for Ford and itself, Fiat will nearly double capacity at its assembly plant here to 530,000 units by late 2008.

The move is the latest in a central European boom that will add a total of 1.5 million units of production. By 2008, seven other assembly plants in new EU countries plan to either open or substantially expand.
