To make Chevrolet truly global, General Motors is changing the brand's marketing and retail activities.

The moves reflect plans to speed up the growth of Chevrolet and other GM brands outside North America.

The company's global plan for Chevrolet includes:

* Common model names for Chevrolet cars

* Common dealer standards

* Common marketing messages for multiple regions.

GM wants the strategy in place by the time it introduces its new global compact-car architecture in 2010.
