Shares of DaimlerChrysler soared in the first quarter on expectations of a sale of the loss-making Chrysler Group.
D/C also rose as share purchases by WestLB boosted demand for the stock. The automaker announced last week that the German bank had "temporarily" accumulated a 14 percent holding in its shares.
Shareholder returns for the German-American carmaker outperformed all other automaker stocks, jumping 31.16 percent in the quarter.
