Ford Motor plans to pursue more cost-cutting in Europe, but the carmaker has no set targets or restructuring initiatives under way.
Ford's European operations, including the luxury-brand Premier Automotive Group, passed the North American automotive unit in total employment during the first quarter of 2007. That's despite having lower unit volume and revenue than North America.
Ford of Europe and PAG had 111,000 employees at the end of March. North America finished with 110,000 employees after a reduction of 18,000 during the quarter.
