S-A Posts 22% Income Gain in Third Quarter ATLANTA - Scientific-Atlanta Inc. posted its highest quarterly earnings and sales to date during the third quarter ended March 31, the company reported last week. Earnings showed a 22 percent gain to $11.8 million, or 51 cents per share, compared to $9.7 million, or 41 cents a share, for the third quarter last year.
Higher sales and margins and a lower effective income tax rate generated the improvement, the company said. Sales for the third quarter of this fiscal year increased by 19 percent to $161 million, up from $134.9 million for the same period last year.
