Cox Cable Tiers TNT in New Orleans NEW ORLEANS -- Cox Cable of New Orleans -- initiating what will most likely become a trend for cable operators -- is offering Turner Network Television on an expanded basic tier. Cox is currently offering TNT on an expanded tier in a package with Houston-based Home Sports Entertainment for $1 to its approximately 83,000 subscribers, according to Ray Nagin, general manager of the system.
Cox currently charges $16.90 for basic service. Last month, TNT reached a four-year carriage agreement with Tele-Communications Inc., but has for the most part been criticized recently by cable operators for increasing its rate card an additional 12 cents to 32 cents to compensate for its four-year, $450 million National Football...
