Truce Called in Tenn. Cable- Telco Brawl The Tennessee Cable Television Association and South Central Bell have agreed to a temporary truce in their battle over a Public Service Commission plan to spend more than $400 million on high technology during the next decade. Two weeks ago, the TCTA was using members' cable systems to pummel the PSC with what it called public service announcements, and South Central Bell was taking roundhouse swings at the cable industry on radio stations across the state.

Negotiations last week between cable and telco attorneys failed to produce a settlement of the issues, but the media blitz has been put on hold. Attorneys will meet again Wednesday with PSC counsel to try to carve out an agreement, according to TCTA...
