S-A Looks at Slowdown Through 1991 for Gear ATLANTA - Scientific-Atlanta Inc. says it expects sales and earnings for the second quarter ended December 1990 will decline from the company's first quarter results and predicted that the slump for cable equipment will last through the end of the year.

In an October forecast, S-A officials projected that the weak market would last through June, making no estimate on the remainder of the year. The company would not say when it expects operators' capital spending to pick up. "We aren't very specific because there are a number of factors involved," said S-A spokesman Robert Meyers.
