S-A Reports Stunning AM fiber sales Although the report may inspire disbelief in some quarters, Scientific-Atlanta Inc. said it has sold 1,000 AM fiber optic receivers and an undisclosed number of matching transmitters over the past four months. John Mattson, S-A's director of marketing, predicted that the pace of sales will accelerate through the year.
To put those figures into perspective, consider that coming into 1991, the estimated base of AM receivers installed in all previous years ranged from 750 to 1,000. Compare that also with consensus forecasts that receiver sales for all vendors for 1991 would total 2,000. While agreeing with a recent Cable Television Laboratories Inc.
