NBC Talks Olympics Clearances With Ops NEW YORK - NBC and Cablevision Systems Corp. have held discussions with cable affiliates about clearing channels for the Olympics, said Marty Lafferty, vice president of PPV Olympics. "We're not talking behind closed doors," he said. "We're having discussions with cable operators to find out what is the most viable approach." Lafferty said he has "alerted" the 10 most widely distributed cable networks that discussions between NBC/Cablevision and affiliates are continuing, but denied that he has discussed any such agreements directly with the programmers.
