Three MSOs Take Stake in DCR; DMX Launches Digital audio technology got a boost on several fronts last week. Continental Cablevision, Cox Communications and Comcast Corp. bought a collective 50 percent stake in Digital Cable Radio, developed by Jerrold Communications. In separate news, Digital Music Express, owned by International Cablecasting Technologies, began delivering 30 channels of music to systems in Seattle, San Francisco and Orange County, Calif., last week.

Jerrold's parent company, General Instrument Corp., had long sought MSO backing. Jerrold will manage the operation, which will now be called Digital Cable Radio Associates. In return for the equity stake, the three MSOs will commit 7 million subs to the new audio service, while GI...
