FTC Pulls Plug on Wireless Company WASHINGTON - The Federal Trade Commission last week asked a federal court to prohibit Applied Telemedia Engineering and Management Inc., a telemarketing company in North Miami, Fla., from claiming that consumers who buy its services are almost certain to obtain a license for a wireless cable television system.

The case, the first of its kind regarding alleged fraud involving wireless cable licenses, is particularly important because the FCC has been looking to the wireless cable industry as a potential competitor to local cable systems.
