S-A, MAAST In PPV, Partnership For Patents Scientific-Atlanta Inc. and MAAST Inc. have entered into a partnership that will license pay-per-view and impulse pay-per-view patents, representatives from both companies said. IPPV Enterprises will license the technological patents to interested cable operators as well as to direct-broadcast satellite distributors, said Allen Ecker, S-A's chief technical officer.

"PPV and impulse PPV are growing rapidly in importance," Ecker said in a statement. "We will provide the industry with an opportunity to license the rights to the inventions owned by the partnership."
