Nycor Would Sell Zenith's Cable Unit Dissident shareholder Nycor Inc. plans to sell Zenith Electronics Corp.'s cable equipment division if it wrests control of the company. In proxy material sent to Zenith shareholders last week, Nycor said it would sell off non-consumer related operations including Zenith's cable components and power supply businesses.
Nycor's plan calls for focusing entirely on television and HDTV operations and replacing what Nycor called an "antiquated" marketing strategy to make the company profitable again. The disclosure came as Nycor pushes ahead in its five-month-long campaign to oust Zenith management.
