Did Someone Here Say 'Infrastructure'? Digital Equipment Corp. is claiming that the infrastructure the country needs to implement the multimedia telecommunications dream world is already in place. All that's required, says the Massachusetts-based computer giant, is recognition that CATV now stands for "Community Advanced Television." DEC, the world's leading supplier of distributed data processing equipment and the primary driver behind the prevailing local-area network (LAN) standard known as Ethernet, is trying to awaken the cable industry and the world at large to what it sees as the futility of chasing the all-fiber telco rainbow.
