Time Warner Takes 20% Swedish Cable Stake NEW YORK -- In the latest of a series of foreign cable investments, Time Warner Cable Group acquired a 20 percent stake in Sweden's second-largest cable operator for $36 million. Time Warner's stake in Swedish Cable and Dish puts the company in partnership with U S West and United International Holdings.
Swedish companies also owning a stake in Swedish Cable and Dish are the investment firm Kinnevik, media and industrial firm Bonnier, the conglomerate Marieberg and the housing construction company Formator. Swedish Cable and Dish has 220,000 subscribers and 725,000 homes in the areas it serves. Its cable systems can carry between 40 and 53 channels, although the number of services subscribers can...
