Time Warner joins German news venture. (Time Warner International joins consortium with Bertelsmann AG and Gruner & Jahr)

NEW YORK -- Time Warner International has joined a consortium of German companies applying for a license to create a news and information television channel in Dusseldorf, Germany. The consortium applied Tuesday for the license in the North Rhine-Westphalia region for an advertiser-supported channel distributed by both cable and broadcast.

Time Warner International is a minority partner in the consortium, which is led by Bertelsmann AG, a media and entertainment company, and Gruner & Jahr, a Hamburg-based publisher.
