MTV-TCA Battle Goes Federal Both MTV: Music Television and TCA Cable TV kept mum last week as their legal battle shifted from a Texas state court to federal court. In the meantime, a temporary restraining order issued two weeks ago by a state judge remains in effect. The order prohibits MTV parent Viacom Inc.

from pulling either Nickelodeon or VH-1 from the TCA systems, which encompass some 420,000 subscribers in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico and Idaho. A TCA spokesman said contract negotiations - which MTV asserts are the heart of the dispute that led to TCA's refusal to renew its MTV contract - continue for Nickelodeon and VH-1, and both networks continue to run on TCA systems.
