NBC: Broadcast Networks in Bad Shape WASHINGTON - The television broadcasting business is in much worse shape than has been depicted in a recent Federal Communications Commission study, NBC said last Tuesday, calling on the agency to scrap a number of regulations to enable broadcasters to better compete against cable and other video delivery technologies.
NBC's grim profile of all three networks' performance was included in a 60-page report sent to the FCC, which is considering removing or loosening some of the restrictions on broadcasters - notably national ownership rules that limit a company to owning 12 TV stations, 12 AM and 12 FM radio stations and a broadcast network/cable cross-ownership provision that forbids the networks to own cable systems....
