S-A-Zenith-AT&T Combo Spices Up Advanced TV Race NEW YORK - Zenith Corp. has swung its support behind Scientific-Atlanta Inc.'s unusual digital compression technology in a complex arrangement that also brings S-A into the HDTV partnership formed by Zenith and AT&T. In a press conference held last week in New York involving top executives from all three companies, S-A and Zenith asserted their teaming up on digital compression will produce an end-to-end digital transmission system over satellite and cable that will be available sooner and at much lower costs than systems offered by their competitors.
