Bangor May Seek Rate Rollback From Cablevision In what observers are calling a first, the city of Bangor, Maine, has signaled it will consider rolling back the basic rates of Cablevision Systems Corp. subsidiary A-R Cable Services Inc. following the FCC's adoption of new rules on effective competition.
The Vermont Public Service Board has said it also will investigate the basic rates of Adelphia Communications Corp. systems there, including the a possible rollback. Under the new rules, which took effect Oct. 25, a cable system's lowest-cost program tier will be subject to rate regulation if the surrounding community is served by five or fewer over-the-air broadcast signals.
