WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Copyright Office urged a House copyright subcommittee last week to review program-access and non-discrimination provisions contained in major cable legislation in the House and Senate. Ralph Oman, chief of the Copyright Office, said these provisions, contained in S 12, a cable bill pending Senate action later this month, and in HR 1303, are copyright issues and should be considered by copyright subcommittees in both chambers.
The House subcommittee has expressed more interest in the copyright implications of cable legislation than its counterpart in the Senate.
