Former Capital Cities/ABC Inc. senior vice president of technology and strategic planning Julius "Julie" Barnathan has been named a consultant to Chicago-based Mediatech. Initially, Barnathan will focus on Mediatech's transition to satellite-based distribution of material using compressed digital video technology supplied to Mediatech by Scientific-Atlanta Inc.
Mediatech is the largest U.S. duplicator and distributor of television and radio commercials, syndicated programming and corporate video. Barnathan was named president in charge of broadcast operations at ABC in 1965, overseeing all technical operations for the ABC Television Network and Broadcast Groups.
