WASHINGTON -- An FCC advisory panel eliminated NHK's (Japan Broadcasting Co.) analog Narrow MUSE from high-definition TV transmission standards consideration last week, at the same time recommending further tests of the remaining four, digital systems. After listening to proponents and poring over data compiled at the Advanced Television Test Center (ATTC) during the past 18 months, the special panel of the FCC's Advisory Committee on Advanced TV Service (ACATS) concluded that current data are insufficient to rule out any digital system.
