Three MSOs look anew at adult PPV movies. (multiple-systems operators; pay-per-view TV)

In an attempt to find new sources of revenue in a newly regulated environment, a number of MSOs are rethinking their opposition to adult pay-per-view services. Cox Cable Communications, Continental Cablevision and Times Mirror Cable are in various stages of evaluating or carrying Playboy At Night and Graff PPV's Spice adult service.

Continental has already launched Spice and Playboy in a number of systems, while Cox is close to launching Spice in one of its West Coast systems. Although most of the major MSOs have launched adult PPV programming throughout their systems, several MSOs, because of corporate policy or fear of a public relations backlash, have stayed clear of the format.
