CHICAGO -- Playboy Enterprises Inc.'s cable operations had a strong year during fiscal 1993, but the division has seen a sharp slowdown in recent weeks, the company said. For the 12 months ended June, the video division generated distribution growth of more than 25 percent, with its Playboy Television service available on systems serving more than 9 million addressable homes, up from 7.3 million a year earlier.
Pay cable and pay-per-view revenues grew 15 percent to $21.3 million. In a statement, Playboy Enterprises chairman Christie Hefner said pay-TV growth "had unexpectedly slowed."
