Cox Cable of San Diego next year plans to test a service that permits viewers to print out coupons at home for products they see in TV commercials. Cox and Acu-Trac Services Inc., a Rancho San Diego, Calif.-based company, will be conducting the trial with 1,000 subscribers starting in January.

The test is part of Acu-Trac's preparation for a national rollout next year of CouponSelect, its in-home coupon distribution device and service. "It's a different way of clipping coupons," said Steve Gautereaux, vice president of technical development for the San Diego system, which has 325,000 subscribers.
