HONG KONG -- A News Corp. subsidiary, News Data Communications, has made a presentation to the Chinese government outlining a plan to solve China's problems with the control of pay TV satellite programming -- while permitting its dissemination throughout the country. The News Datacom presentation before senior officials at the Ministry of Radio Film and Television (MRFTV), was made on Dec.
16 in Beijing. News Corp.'s Star TV, along with all other international satellite television channels, was effectively banned from Chinese screens about a year ago, thanks to a State directive that condemned uncontrolled international TV signals as "cultural pollution."
