DBS companies ready interactive technology. (direct broadcast satellite TV)

Several GM Hughes Electronics initiatives involving direct-broadcast satellite are targeting the one area that gives cable a clear advantage over wireless communication: interactivity. The first step toward delivering interactive DBS services is expected to take place later this year with the introduction of Thomson Consumer Electronics' second-generation Digital Satellite Service box, which will use standard phone lines for a data return path.
