New York - Viacom Inc. chairman Sumner Redstone and Turner Entertainment president Scott Sassa told Madison Avenue last week that despite the revolution sweeping the media landscape, programming content rather than technology will remain the key to reaching television viewers. "It is not the distribution system that makes the difference: It is what's on it that counts," Redstone told a luncheon audience at the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau's annual national conference here.
Sassa struck a similar note during a CAB panel on "Engaging the Consumer: What's Ahead in Programming and Delivery?" just before Redstone's speech last Tuesday. At Turner Broadcasting Systems Inc., Sassa said, "Our bet is on product," regardless of what technological platform is...
