An increasing number of cable operators are beginning to recognize the child care needs of their employees and are shaping new benefit programs to answer those demands. These perks range from flex time to job sharing to tax-free payroll deduction plans as well as outright reimbursement for child care providers.

A few companies are even in the process of constructing their own day care centers. Though the latter solution can run into the millions of dollars, human resources executives stressed that some child care initiatives can cost as little as $2,000 a year.
