Initial indications from field tests in Charlotte, N.C., designed to see how well the high-definition TV Grand Alliance system works under real-life conditions were favorable, groups associated with the tests said last week. Executives with the Advanced Television Test Center (ATTC), Cable Television Laboratories Inc.
vendor companies affiliated with the Grand Alliance said they are hopeful for a Federal Communications Commission blessing of the system as a digital standard by year's end.
