Ohio cable ops charge Ameritech with cheating. (cable TV operators)

WASHINGTON - Ohio cable operators believe that Ameritech Corp. is breaking the rules again. The Ohio Cable Telecommunications Association charged that the Baby Bell is flouting Federal Communications Commission rules, and it wants the agency to investigate the OCTA's allegations of cheating.

Last week, the Ohio cable operator group submitted photographic evidence apparently showing that Ameritech had begun building a cable system in Columbus prior to FCC approval. Although the FCC said it won't approve a cable build unless the telco has a signed franchise, the agency did grant Ameritech a temporary waiver in Columbus.
