AT&T Network Systems is preparing to raise its profile in the cable hardware market with the introduction of an integrated services platform modeled on the hybrid fiber-coaxial system built for telcos. The "cable-centric" version of the company's GlobeView 2000 HFC system could be deployed starting early next year, said Bill Nelson, vice president of national accounts for AT&T.

The heightened focus on the cable industry also includes efforts to find partners among consumer electronics manufacturers to broaden the supplier base for AT&T's set-top system, Nelson said.
