Adult rules send ops scrambling. (cable TV operators)

Operators last week began the tedious task of determining how best to .meet the Federal Communications Commission's May 18 deadline for compliance with adult scrambling laws. Most operators will roll back programming time for adult services Playboy TV, AdulTVision, Spice Networks and Adam & Eve to FCC-recommended "safe-harbor" hours, leaving pay-per-view networks and other interactive services to vie for part-time carriage.
"I think there's a blend of things out there," said Jim English, president of Playboy Networks Worldwide. Few MSOs will actually spend the money to scramble the adult signals.
