The second and third words, out of Barry Diller's mouth were "transactional processors," as he unveiled the stock swap between Home Shopping Network Inc. and Ticketmaster. The two companies handle a combined total of 110 million orders per year, and Diller envisions this capability as an exploitable skill as Internet commerce attracts more purveyors to cyberspace.

As a reminder of the value of transaction processing, Diller emphasized it as one of HSN's three core businesses, along with broadcasting and electronic retailing.
