Family plans corp. layoffs. (International Family Entertainment Inc)

International Family Entertainment Inc. is planning major layoffs this fall at its corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va., following its merger with Fox Kids Worldwide Inc.

IFE, parent of The Family Channel and FiT TV, has sent notices to employees at its Guardian Lane headquarters in Virginia Beach warning them that layoffs are coming within 60 days.

Larry Dantzler, IFE's chief financial officer, said last week that the exact number of employees that will be let go hasn't been determined yet.

In an Aug. 5 filing with the Virginia Employment Commission in Richmond, IFE said that while it is "difficult to anticipate the number of jobs" that will be eliminated, "as many as 75 percent to 90 percent" of the 175 employees at its...
